January 31, 2004 - Two Air National Guard F-16 fighter jets were called to respond from Egg Harbor Township when a small plane flew into restricted airspace in South Jersey.  President George Bush was leaving after a short visit to Philadelphia, departing on Air Force One out of Philadelphia International Airport.  The fighter jets dropped flares, normally used to evade heat-seeking missiles, in order to get the pilot's attention.  The plane was ordered to land at the Flying W Airport, where Secret Service agents detained and interviewed the pilot.

From all reports, it appears that the pilot was simply unaware of the temporary restriction, and simply failed to check the notice that was filed for the day.  It has not been determined whether any charges will be filed against the pilot.
